The Supreme Council for Shariah Oyo State Chapter sometimes in the year 2012 at its meeting held at Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao Central Mosque, Iwo Road, Ibadan. Nigeria proposed the establishment of Elders Consultatiive Forum as an offshoot of Supreme Council for Shariah, Oyo State and the names of the following people were suggested and later inaugurated as pioneers of the forum: they Are as follows:

  • Alhaji Lasun Sanusi (SAN) – Chairman
  • Sheikh Ahmad Bayo Ahmad – Member
  • Sheikh Abubakar Umar Erubu – Member
  • Sheikh Abdul-Rasaq Abdul-Hameed AKuru  – Member
  • Sheikh Ahmad Tiamiyu – Member
  • Sheikh Abdullah Adedeji – Ex-official members
  • Alhaji Isiaq Kunle Sanni – Member
  • Barrister Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu – Member
  • Shakiru Adekunle Fajinmi – Secretary

However, due to the exegesis of time and political inclination of the pioneer secretary in person of Hon. SHakiru Adekunle Fajinmi, Lawyer Ismail Akorede Saka of Muslim Lawyers Association was subsequently suggested as replacement for the secretary in order not to attach political undertone to the functions of the forum while the secretariat of the forum was moved to Oja’ba Central Mosque  where the Independent Shariah panel sits for administrative convenience.

At a later time the membership of the forum was expanded to accommodate representatives of other recognized Islamic organizations in Oyo State to make the forum more acceptable and accessible to all and sundry.

This development led to the inclusion of the following members as representatives of their various organizations.

  • Alhaji Abdul-LAteef Olaniyan – The Universal Muslim Brotherhood (UMB)
  • Alhaji Maruf Olabamiji Yusuf – Muslim Media Practitioners Association
  • Alhaji Qamarudeen Akinyera – Al-Jannat Islamic Organization
  • Sherif Arowolo – Organization of Tahwunu Muslimeen
  • Sani Abdul-Kadir Garba Fagge – Jamhiyyah Izalat Bidhot Waiqamat Sunnah (JIBWIS)

  • Alhaja Anatu Uthman – Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN)

  • Alhaji Abdul-Razaq Mustapha – Ibadu Rahman Society of Nigeria
  • Saheed Oyeniran – Secretary Shariah Independent Arbitration Panel.

The decision to form Elders Consultative Forum which is an offspring of Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter took place at a meeting held in July 2012 at Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Ariselola Alao Central Mosque, Iwo Road, Ibadan.

The Forum initially consisted of the following members;
